The Civilian Conservation Corp CCC quarried rock from around the area back in the 30s and 40s. This picnic table was made by them. It will not have to be replaced for many years.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Shaggy Mane mushroom thief! - Visiting there often, I found that shaggy mane mushrooms came up there in the fall. Keeping a regular eye on it (I lived only 20 minutes away) I showed up one morning to find them all broken off... A tad disconcerted that some child was going around kicking them I continued stopping in early in the morning. Pulling up one day, I catch the culprit in the act!! A nice plump porcupine! Scolding him from my car I leave him to his feast. Mushroom-less but content.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars Going, Going, Gone - This park seems to have been given to a retiring VT congressman who now lives there and operates a dairy farm.
review rating - 1 to 5 stars A perfect place for Loon lovers - My wife and 3 kids stayed in Blue Jay cabin in summer of 2011. The park staffs are wonderful and friendly. We can hear and see the loons all day long. There are plenty of fish in the Spectacle Pond. The beach is a little dirty, littering with cigarret butts and dead leaves, not well maintained. The water is warm enough. The camp overall is a very quiet and well-maintained park. Camp sites/leantos are placed reasonaly far apart. Cabin Blue Jay and campsite #38 are right on the pond that you can launch your own kayaks from these sites. Its Rt-105 West/East have spectacular lakes/mountains views. Kingdom Supermarket is conveniently located about 5 minutes from camp on Rt-105 West.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars - The park offers a large area for hiking, with some good inclines, including the trip up Little Ball Mountain, and the switchback trail going up to Ball Lake Dam. Hamilton Falls is really wonderful. In sum, the park really is beautiful, much of it following along the West River.

review rating - 1 to 5 stars I grew up at this park - My family has picnicked at this park all my life. Now my own family comes to this park when we visit Vt. This is the place where my husband and I have been soul mates before we even knew each other. It is the park where we will have our ashes brought to. There does seem to be a change there I am sure it is the restless youth of today who have no respect for nature. We do bring a bag with us to carry out useless trash. Black flies during Memorial weekend are not fun and there are plenty at this park..
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Not a national park - The Green Mountain National Forest, like other National Forests, is NOT a National Park. National Forests are administered under the US Department of Agriculture. National Parks, which are established by a different federal law than are forests, are administered under the Department of the Interior. There is a National Park in Vermont, but it is neither in nor adjacent to the Green Mountain National Forest. This is the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historical Park near Woodstock, Vermont.
review rating - 1 to 5 stars Beautiful Park and great people - Spent a week here July 14, 2010. It was so peaceful and all of the people that work there are so pleasant. We sailed there and had a very relaxing week. Cooked out each night in the grills that are maintained by the people there. Very respectful young people. That is so nice to see. Loved our stay there and hoping to get back there again.
